The history behind our logo, the Viking boat, starts around 60 years ago. My grandfather, Giuseppe Mazzucchi, was given a Cedar as a present, a tree known for its precious wood and beauty.
When my parents Antonio and Lidia established our store “Tuttosport Mazzucchi†47 years ago, they collaborated with the architect Giuseppe Galimberti to create a symbol which would make the shop unique and recognizable.
They came up with the idea of a Viking boat, this is due to the fact that my family has a very strong bond with waters (they used to sail in the Ligurian Sea and Lake Como) and also to the strong commercial skills of the Vikings.
The Viking boat of the architect Galimberti quickly became a symbol not only for our brand but also for the City of Sondrio.
10 years after its last restoration this work of art has been dismantled after suffering some damages caused by the wind, sun and water leaks.
Our Viking boat will undergo a heavy restoration and will be back soon to represent our Brand in the best possible way like it always did.
Also, our legendary Cedar will have a new life, from middle April “Tuttosport Mazzucchi†alongside with “Associazione Valtellina Intagliatori e Intarsiatori†will launch an artistic contest in which the best sculptors from our Valley will compete.
The goal is to recreate the head of our Viking boat from some wood blocks coming from the old Cedar tree.
